Rome Day 3!

Today was a FULL day.

We started off with a tour of the Colosseum and it was so cool! We had the best tour guide and she was so fun to follow around. The tour also went to the Roman Ruins which were also very cool (and hot).

After our tours, we found a restaurant just down the street and guess what. It had wifi AND air conditioning!!!!! I repeat- wifi AND air conditioning!!!! It was called Benso and I recommend it to anyone and everyone especially after a Colosseum tour. I ate some yummy gnocchi (again) and we finally got to cool off.

Today was actually a Roman holiday- St. Peter and St. Paul day. Because of this, the city was much more empty and a lot of the Romans left the city. Our next activity was rather fitting for the holiday- Mamertime Prison (the prison that Peter and Paul were kept in before they died). This was seriously

SO cool. We were able to go into their actual cells and there was a museum about it built on top!

Next we made the hike up to see the city through a key hole. The hike was rough but the views were incredible! On our way home, we stopped at they pyramid which was cool to see. We were all set to take the metro back to the hotel and Meredith and I put in our metro passes and looked back to see that Mom couldn't get through! The attendant went to help her and he started giggling. She was trying to use her Vatican ticket instead of her metro pass (LOL).

Later that night for dinner, we ate at a restaurant just off of the Spanish Steps. Y'all, my pasta was IN A PARMESAN CHEESE CUP. Yep, you heard me right. A cup made out of parmesan cheese. It was a delicious meal but then suddenly we heard some seriously loud bangs. Of course we all jumped and looked outside, but there were just fireworks to celebrate the holiday! It was a great last day in Rome but we are ready to head to Venice!

Love,

MTW
